Haridwar (spiritual gateway) → Gangotri (origin of Ganga) → Kedarnath (Shiva shrine) → Badrinath (Vishnu shrine)
This Divine Tri Dham Yatra from Delhi is a carefully designed spiritual journey covering three of the most sacred shrines in Uttarakhand—Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Unlike the full Char Dham circuit, this itinerary focuses on three major Dhams, allowing a more balanced experience with slightly reduced travel intensity while still maintaining the depth of pilgrimage.
The journey combines long Himalayan drives, high-altitude temple visits, and the physically demanding Kedarnath trek, making it both spiritually enriching and physically engaging. The route is structured to ensure proper acclimatization, logical movement across regions, and a smooth pilgrimage flow without unnecessary exhaustion.
Your journey begins with a morning departure from Delhi towards Haridwar, marking the entry into a spiritually vibrant environment. As you leave the busy city behind, the surroundings gradually become calmer and more serene. Upon arrival in Haridwar, you check into your hotel and prepare for the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, where the sight of glowing lamps, devotional chants, and the flowing Ganga creates a powerful and immersive spiritual atmosphere, setting the tone for the journey ahead.
Meals & Stay: Overnight stay in Haridwar
After breakfast, you begin your journey towards Uttarkashi, which serves as the base for Gangotri. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads, river valleys, and scenic forested stretches, gradually introducing you to the Himalayan terrain. As the altitude increases, the air becomes cooler and the environment quieter. Upon arrival, you check into your hotel and may visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, an important spiritual site in the region, before resting for the next day’s excursion.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Uttarkashi
You begin early for Gangotri, one of the most scenic and spiritually significant journeys of the yatra. The route offers breathtaking views of mountain cliffs, river gorges, and dense forests. Upon reaching Gangotri, you visit the temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga and spend time near the river, experiencing the powerful spiritual energy of the place. After completing darshan, you return to Uttarkashi by evening.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Uttarkashi
After breakfast, you proceed towards Guptkashi, which serves as the base for Kedarnath. This is one of the longest travel days of the itinerary, taking you through multiple river confluences and changing landscapes. The journey is visually rich but requires patience due to mountain road conditions. By evening, you reach Guptkashi, check into your hotel, and rest in preparation for the upcoming trek.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
This is the most important and physically demanding day of the yatra. Early in the morning, you travel to Sonprayag and then to Gaurikund, which is the starting point for the Kedarnath trek. From here, a 16–18 km one-way trek leads to the temple through steep paths and high-altitude terrain. Pilgrims who prefer a more comfortable option can opt for pony, palki, or helicopter services. Upon reaching Kedarnath, you visit the sacred temple of Lord Shiva, surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks, creating a deeply spiritual experience.
Meals & Stay: Overnight stay in Kedarnath
After early morning darshan at Kedarnath, you begin your descent back towards Gaurikund and continue your journey to Guptkashi. The return trek is physically demanding but brings a strong sense of accomplishment. Upon arrival, you check into your hotel and take time to rest and recover.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
After breakfast, you proceed towards Badrinath, the final Dham of this journey. The route passes through Joshimath and offers dramatic Himalayan views. Upon arrival, you visit Badrinath Temple and may also take a dip in Tapt Kund before darshan. This marks the completion of all three Dhams in the itinerary.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Badrinath
After morning darshan, you begin your journey towards Rudraprayag. The drive is relatively relaxed compared to earlier days and offers scenic views of river valleys and mountain landscapes. Rudraprayag, known for the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, provides a spiritually calming stop.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Rudraprayag
You continue your journey towards Rishikesh, where the environment shifts to a more accessible and vibrant spiritual setting. Upon arrival, you may visit Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, and nearby temples, experiencing a different yet peaceful atmosphere compared to the higher Himalayan regions.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Rishikesh
Your journey concludes with a return drive to Delhi as you gradually leave the mountains behind. While the physical journey ends, the spiritual experience of visiting Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath remains with you, marking the successful completion of your Tri Dham Yatra.
