Delhi → Haridwar → Guptkashi → Kedarnath → Badrinath → Rudraprayag → Rishikesh → Delhi
This Do Dham Yatra from Delhi focuses on two of the most spiritually significant shrines in Uttarakhand—Kedarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. While this journey is shorter than the Char Dham circuit, it still requires careful planning, physical readiness, and mental preparation due to high-altitude travel and trekking requirements.
The itinerary is designed with realistic travel durations, proper altitude transitions, and well-balanced trekking schedules, ensuring that the pilgrimage remains comfortable, meaningful, and spiritually fulfilling without unnecessary exhaustion.
Your journey begins with a morning departure from Delhi towards Haridwar, marking the transition from urban life to a spiritually enriched environment. As you travel through the plains and gradually approach Uttarakhand, the surroundings begin to feel calmer and more connected to nature. Upon arrival, you check into your hotel and prepare for the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, where the sight of illuminated lamps floating on the river along with devotional chants creates a powerful and immersive spiritual atmosphere that sets the tone for the journey ahead.
Meals & Stay: Overnight stay in Haridwar
After breakfast, you begin your journey towards Guptkashi, which serves as the base for Kedarnath. This is one of the longest and most visually engaging drives of the yatra, as you pass through winding mountain roads, deep valleys, and multiple sacred river confluences known as Prayags. As the altitude gradually increases, the terrain becomes more rugged and the environment more serene, offering a true Himalayan experience. By evening, you reach Guptkashi, check into your hotel, and rest in preparation for the trek ahead.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
This is the most crucial and physically demanding day of the yatra. Early in the morning, you travel to Sonprayag and then to Gaurikund, which is the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. From here, a 16–18 km one-way trek takes you through steep climbs, narrow trails, and high-altitude terrain, making it both challenging and rewarding. Pilgrims who prefer a less physically demanding option can choose pony, palki, or helicopter services. Upon reaching Kedarnath, you visit the sacred temple, located amidst towering snow-clad peaks, where the atmosphere feels deeply spiritual and serene.
Meals & Stay: Overnight stay in Kedarnath
You begin your day with an early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple, when the surroundings are quieter and more peaceful, allowing for a deeper spiritual connection. After completing darshan, you start your descent back towards Gaurikund and continue to Guptkashi. Although the return journey is physically tiring, it brings a strong sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. Upon arrival, you check into your hotel and take the rest of the day to relax and recover.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
After breakfast, you proceed towards Badrinath, the second and final Dham of this journey. The route passes through Joshimath and offers some of the most dramatic mountain landscapes, with steep cliffs, river valleys, and panoramic views accompanying you throughout the drive. As you approach Badrinath, the terrain becomes more rugged and spiritually intense. Upon arrival, you visit Badrinath Temple and may also take a dip in Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring known for its religious significance.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Badrinath
After morning darshan, you begin your descent towards Rudraprayag. The journey offers scenic views and a more relaxed pace compared to previous days, allowing you to unwind after completing the major pilgrimage. Rudraprayag, known for the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, provides a spiritually significant and visually calming stop. The gradual descent also helps your body adjust after high-altitude travel.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Rudraprayag
After breakfast, you continue towards Rishikesh, where the environment shifts from high-altitude mountains to a more vibrant and accessible spiritual setting. Rishikesh is known for its blend of spirituality and activity, offering both peaceful ghats and lively surroundings. You may visit Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, and nearby temples, experiencing a softer and more relaxed phase of the journey after the intense pilgrimage days.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Rishikesh
Your journey concludes with a return drive to Delhi as you gradually leave the mountains behind and re-enter the plains. While the physical journey ends, the spiritual experience of visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath stays with you, marking the successful completion of your Do Dham Yatra.
