Haridwar (gateway) → Kedarnath (sacred Shiva temple in Himalayas)
This Single Dham Yatra from Haridwar is specially designed for pilgrims who want to complete the sacred Kedarnath pilgrimage within a compact duration while still maintaining a structured and spiritually meaningful journey. Starting directly from Haridwar helps reduce unnecessary travel time and allows pilgrims to focus entirely on the Kedarnath experience without extending the itinerary unnecessarily.
Even though this is a short-duration yatra, it still involves long Himalayan drives, high-altitude conditions, and the physically demanding Kedarnath trek. The itinerary is planned carefully to maintain a practical travel flow, proper trekking schedule, and sufficient recovery time while ensuring that the spiritual significance of the journey remains central throughout.
Your journey begins from Haridwar as you drive towards Guptkashi, which serves as the primary base destination for Kedarnath. The route gradually takes you deeper into the Himalayan region, with winding mountain roads, flowing rivers, and scenic valleys accompanying you throughout the day. Along the way, you pass through spiritually significant river confluences and picturesque mountain towns that add to the atmosphere of the pilgrimage. As the altitude increases, the environment becomes cooler and more peaceful, creating a true Himalayan travel experience. By evening, you arrive in Guptkashi, check into your hotel, and rest in preparation for the trek ahead.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
This is the most important and physically demanding day of the yatra. Early in the morning, you travel to Sonprayag and then continue towards Gaurikund, which is the starting point for the Kedarnath trek. From here, a 16–18 km uphill trek takes you through steep mountain terrain, waterfalls, and rugged Himalayan paths. The journey is physically challenging yet spiritually rewarding, with changing landscapes and panoramic mountain views accompanying you throughout the route. Pilgrims who prefer a more comfortable experience can opt for helicopter services or use pony and palki facilities. Upon reaching Kedarnath, you visit the sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks that create a deeply peaceful and spiritually powerful atmosphere.
Meals & Stay: Overnight stay in Kedarnath
You begin your day with early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple, when the surroundings are quieter and spiritually more immersive. The fresh mountain air, temple bells, and calm atmosphere create a memorable final experience at the shrine before beginning your descent. After darshan, you trek back towards Gaurikund and continue your journey to Guptkashi. Although the return trek is physically tiring, it brings a strong sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. Upon arrival in Guptkashi, you check into your hotel and take the rest of the day to relax and recover from the intense journey.
Meals & Stay: Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi
After breakfast, you begin your return drive towards Haridwar as you gradually descend from the Himalayan terrain into the plains. The route once again offers scenic mountain views, flowing rivers, and peaceful landscapes, allowing time to reflect on the spiritual experience and physical accomplishment of completing the Kedarnath Yatra. By evening, you arrive in Haridwar, marking the successful completion of your pilgrimage.
